2024 Electric Cars – What’s coming?

2024 promises to be another big year for the introduction of more fully electric vehicles into the UK market. From well know manufacturers to the ‘new kids on the block’ such as BYD, there’s something to get excited about for everyone. Here’s our round up of some to watch and as always if you’re interested in any of these cars or any other vehicle already available – don’t hesitate to contact us.

For fans of Italian flair, the Alfa Romeo Milano marks the first mainstream EV for the brand in the UK.  It's set to have a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive powertrain and a chassis prioritising engaging handling. A Quadrifoglio version is likely to make an appearance this year too.

Launching April 2024

Range – 250 miles

 

Audi is adding to it’s electric offering in 2024 with the A6 E-tron. The new A6 will deliver ranges around the 400 mile mark and the potential for power outputs above 500bhp.

Launching Mid-2024

Range – 400+ miles

 

The BMW i5 Touring is going to tick boxes for drivers who want an all electric upmarket estate and the second generation of the BMW ix will also arrive in 2024 with an official range of 279 miles and a maximum charging rate of 130kW.

Launching Spring 2024

Range – 360 miles

 

Ford’s connections with the Volkswagen Group has produced the Explorer, a family SUV that will be offered in 168bhp, 282bhp and 335bhp guises, with largest reported range at 311 miles.

Range – 311 miles

 

Kia’s push to offer more affordable electric cars begins with the EV3, which will offer multiple powertrains, with outputs likely to range from 215bhp to 302bhp.

Two new Polestars will be arriving in 2024. The 3 is reportedly fun to drive with a high end interior whilst the 4, dubbed Polestar’s most environmentally friendly car yet, has no rear window, instead it has roof mounted cameras! Real stuff of the future!!

It feels like the Range Rover Electric has been a long time coming but Jaguar Landrover is definitely saying it’s worth the wait promising the ‘most refined Range Rover to date’.

You may have read that the Volvo EX90 was delayed due to software issues but is on track to launch later this year. High end and a huge amount of tech, this car is one to watch for those who love Volvo style.

At the more cost-effective end of the spectrum, the electric version of the new Citroen C3 will be one of the UK’s cheapest EVs by a significant margin and with an official range of 199 miles and the ability to charge at rates of up to 100kW it could be the perfect entry all-electric car.

Range – 200 miles

 

As for the ‘new kids on the block’ Chinese giant BYD will be adding to it’s line-up later this year with the Seal U. Some say this is a good competitor to the Tesla Model Y with  battery capacities of 71kWh and 87kWh, plus the ability to recharge at rates up to 150kW.

The Aiways U5 has been described as “a competent, if uninspiring family SUV’. Another car hailing from China it’s been available in Europe since 2020 but will be available in the UK later this year, and is said to be priced to rival the Skoda Enyaq.

Chinese EV maker Xpeng’s UK launch will begin with the G6, a rival to the Tesla Model Y. There are two battery sizes in the SUV, 66kWh and 87.5kWh, giving reported ranges of between 360 and 469 miles.
